Vintage Timberframes

Timberframes with their exposed large beams and posts that are connected by mortise and tenon joints held together by a wooden peg provide a unique and appealing home interior. Take a few minutes and look into any window catalog or a popular decorating magazine and you will probably see a timberframe home despite their rarity because their look is so special. Timberframes also work very well with today's trend of open floor plans.

Antique timberframes provide this same wonderful look and feel but with a more rustic flavor. Also, the old-growth wood of an antique frame has a tight grain pattern which provides more stabilty with less cracks and movement along with increased strength. Furthermore, an antique timberframe is typically a fraction of the cost when compared to a new wood frame.

Rustic Innovations carefully searches for timberframes that have the desired qualities for reuse as homes, commercial buildings, and again as barns. We accurately document and label the frame prior to demoliation for easy reassembly. The frame is then carefully disassembled in the reverse order that is was originally constructed. The beams and components are pressure washed, inspected, and treated as necessary. Any repairs are performed by our skilled craftsmen with old-world methods and similar materials. The beams and components are organized and palletized where possible. All frames are stored inside until they are shipped to their new site.

Rustic Innovations can provide design services, design ideas, and construction consultation. We can also provide crews to reassemble your frame. Why buy an antique for your home when you can live in antique? Please consider Preserving History by Recycling a Barn!
